Trip to France, Day 13 (August 12) : August 12 was a long day, but looking back, WELL worth it!! We got up very early (before 6 if I remember rightly) and drove from Rennes out to Mont St-Michel. It seems to me that took about 90 minutes. We got there about 8:30 - before most of the shops even opened! We spent ALL morning and the early part of the afternoon doing the audio-guided tour of the whole magnificent place. (Unfortunately, by the end, we were a little past the point of saturation. :)) We got a bite of lunch in a crowded and expensive cafe - but what's a person to do when way out there without sustenance?? :) - and then took in a few of the tourist traps. (More accurately, they took US in, but we escaped without too much damage to the wallet.) We left mid-afternoon and judging by the mash of crowds, we left not a moment too soon!

On our way back to Rennes, exhausted though we were, we made an unplanned stop in Pontmain... Now I'm glad we did. We said a Rosary at Our Lady's shrine and visited the two adjacent shops there.
We hit the road once again. Upon arriving in Rennes, Mom decided to make one more unplanned stop - at the rose gardens, where she and Linds had spent some time in November of 2002. They were in full bloom and GORGEOUS. And even though I did NOT feel like stopping and spending time ANYWHERE else, once at the gardens, I was very happy to have been forced to see them. ;) (Thank you, Mom!)

Trip to France, Day 11 (August 10) : Mom and I said goodbye to Sister :( and left Fanjeaux, headed for Tours. On the way, we stopped at the shrine of Our Lady of Rocamadour. ("Amadour" - for whom it is named - is said to have been the husband of St. Veronica, who wiped the face of Our Lord. It is believed that he is/was buried at this site.)

Trip to France, Day 3 (August 2) : We spent most of Saturday, August 2 around the dining room table with the Fritz family. Breakfast lasted until it was time to pick the Mionis up from the train station in Bram. Lunch lasted from 1:30 to 4:30, when we drove into Carcassonne with the Mionis to get a rental car for them. Then dinner lasted from about 8:30 to 11 pm! Thus, not a whole lot of pictures. :)
